I need Husky bark at everything even if something isn’t there shirt. Not having classical music would be an absolute travesty. It would be a big mistake to roll this out. By all means teach a wide range of genres, their interrelationships and how they have all inspired each other but to simply focus on one genre that happens to be cool right now will not produce musicians of the future and it will not allow the evolution of music and development of new genres. This is simply fooling young people into thinking that if they study this they can be famous too, rather than studying music for the love of it. It would be like only teaching football for sport.

I don’t really see a problem with teaching contemporary music as it still has its own merits and lessons to teach – regardless of how judgy you are about it. Personally, I think it may be more useful to combine the two – taking modern music then tracing it back to any classical influences it may have.
