While the flip-flop heel was the most controversial shoe of summer, Victoria Beckham is already throwing a new contender into the ring for fall: on multiple occasions now, the designer has been sporting her polarizing peep-toe stilettos, which straddle the line between a sandal and boot. It’s a tricky shoe—the knit upper is too covered for summer, not covered enough for winter temperatures—but Beckham has been fully committed to rocking the style on the streets. (They continue popping up in her collections, too.) And now, it seems she’s even bringing it to the airport.
Yesterday, Beckham arrived at New York City’s JFK airport wearing a stretchy red pair, fitted tight to the leg. It’s an unexpected shoe choice; usually a slide sandal or sneaker is the go-to while catching a flight, for a smooth ride through the TSA screening process. The designer styled her favorite footwear with a typically posh ensemble, pairing an argyle wool sweater, layered over a button-up shirt, with a checkered, below-the-knee skirt. In her hand, Beckham also carried her chic take on a travel bag: a streamlined red leather tote, carried as a folded clutch. She didn’t forget her big sunglasses, either—after all, the paparazzi was waiting for her to land. Then again, in those eye-catching shoes, it would have been hard to travel incognito.
