Tyler, the Creator has always had strong fashion game. In addition to designing his very own streetwear line Golf Wang, the rapper has enviably cool personal style. He often mixes skater-inspired pieces with status designer items— think, a pink Chanel bag. Since the release of his new album Igor, however, the musician has been experimenting with radical new wardrobe ideas, including the distinctive blonde wig and colorful suiting he’s been wearing on tour. His latest turn on the red carpet signals yet another fashion mood: the English school boy.
Tyler’s take on school uniform realness was seen just last night, at the 2019 LACMA Art and Film Gala in Los Angeles. He wore pieces from Gucci’s Pre-Fall collection including a mustard wool V-neck sweater, worn over a blue striped dress shirt and green silk tie, khaki shorts (with a khaki bucket hat to match), fisherman sandals, and calf-length tube socks.
This studious vibe is one that Tyler, the Creator also sported in his new music video for “I Think,” which was released last week and features a cameo from friend Kendall Jenner. For a brief second in the clip, the rapper is seen wearing another V-neck sweater, page boy cap, shorts, and the same tube socks once again. On his Instagram, he’s also posted similar sock fits. Which just goes to show that when it comes to fashion, this rapper is in a class of his own.
