Sienna Miller Gives the House Slipper a High-Fashion Twist

Built for function, winter boots often lack the sleek shape of the more fashion-forward styles that are made for fall and spring. Yet cold weather is no excuse for skimping on style. Stars such as Katie Holmes have shown that snow boots can look surprisingly chic. And now Sienna Miller has found a hip way to take another wintertime staple, the cozy house slipper, onto icy city streets.

The actress was spotted today in Manhattan wearing Gucci’s Fria wool slippers. Technically a men’s style, they retail for $890 and feature Gucci’s signature horesebit detail and an all-over “GG” monogram print. The shearling lining also resembles that of a classic Ugg boot—the OG in slip-on winter boots! Miller gave the plushy shoes an elegant upgrade, pairing them with a wool overcoat, gray sweater, and leopard-print leggings.

So, does this mean you can go out in any ol’ house slipper lying around at home? Given the PJs-esque shoes have zero snow protection or sole grip, one should proceed with caution. Yet if you’re going to make a slipper statement, opt for a wool-lined, logo-plastered pair like Miller’s which will look cool (while keeping your toes warm).
