Sam Smith Teases a Big Announcement in Dramatic (and Very Unseasonal) Fashion

The last time Sam Smith gallivanted about his perfectly manicured, idyllic English garden, he did so in very unconventional garb. In a selfie that he posted to Instagram this past June, the British singer is posing alongside a blooming rose bush in a silver metallic fringe dress and a soft pink suede jacket. The caption on the image is just as cheeky as the look, it reads: “Just trimming my roses.” It’s neither an outfit appropriate for toiling in the soil nor a proper English garden party, but it does make some sense given Smith’s well-established, theatrical sense of style.
Smith continued this outlandish gardening fashion streak with a new video that he posted to social media this morning. It shows Smith, clad in little more than a pair of underwear, some chunky leather platform boots, and a massive faux fur coat, strutting down the stone walkway in his backyard as if it were a catwalk. He then addresses the camera directly to reveal some cryptic news: “I have an announcement tomorrow.” The singer is surely trying to drum up excitement for whatever it is that he’s planning on setting forth into the world—though his opulent faux fur almost steals the show.
