Hello everyone! I am hoping for some advice! Yesterday was my first day subbing for a PreK class… the teacher left in the last month of school! The children don’t seem used to being disciplined at all and are mean to each other.

Yesterday on boy told another girl that she is ugly and she is no ones best friend (creatively vicious for a 4 year old!) But my biggest concern is a little girl who will lash out and hit or (more often) claw people in the face. I had to actually cup my hands around her eyes to get her to focus on my words because after I spoke with her she had no idea what I had said. After she was in time out for scratching someone in the face (not my favorite punishment, but…) I asked her why she was in time out. Why are you in time out.” Finally, she seemed to understand and started crying and said I hit my friend. Can anyone offer some advice or a better way to handle the situation?
