Consequently, what I envisioned in my heart wasn’t quite aligned with what I saw in the mirror. The result? A feeling of being ‘off,’ unattractive, and even more than a tad frumpy. This realization led me to a crucial understanding: dressing the body you have today is the key to feeling confident and beautiful. Life is a journey, and so is our relationship with our bodies. It’s not uncommon for our bodies to change over the years, whether it’s due to natural shifts or the impacts of various life stages such as pregnancy and birth to menopause. Reflecting on my own experience, I realized that clinging to an idealized body shape (that I never had) and even the body I had early in my adulthood was limiting and even a tad disheartening. Because I don’t have a defined waist, the oversized top style works for my body (when worn with a slim bottom garment), so there is always an upside for every downside as those body shapes that have the defined waists (X, A and 8) find this trend really doesn’t work for them like it does for the straighter shapes (H, V, O).
