If the doc had been only about Doug Kenney, it would have been intriguing.

Yeah I agree. Terrible casting. I don’t get the old Doug Kenney because he killed himself, but then again I didn’t watch the end. Terrible casting. Over the top performances. Not very good. Which is sad, cause Kenney was a great story. My knowledge about the lampoon is limited. I enjoyed the movie. Spoilers But the part with having an older Doug Kenney narrating made me think that his death was just an artistic moment. I hade to check his wikipedia to see that he actually died. Spoilers. There’s something about the movie though, It kinda stuck with me after seeing it. I liked the performances of the lead actor.

There was a lot of warmth to him that just stood out to me. As silly as the make up is, it took me the whole of the movie to figure out that Henry Beard is played by Domhnall Gleeson. I had the entire collection of National Lampoonmagazine back in the day. Unfortunately had to sell it when I got divorced, but got some decent cash for it. Thankfully, I kept the Big Book or Humor, the 199th Big Birthday Book, and my favorite, the High school Yearbook Parody. We used to read the fake names under the class pictures for hours. Buster Hymen. A classic. Have 199th BB, friend brought a couple to school, didn’t order everything if I had.

Sunday Newspaper parody. Humor was not compulsory, knock knock. Lock-step march, then. WIth no context, but itself. As much as I love John daily and crew this teaser looks bland af. I’ll probably still watch it though as I alreafy watched the documentry, but the documentary glaringly oversold the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation You Serious Clark Griswold Family Christmas shirt of National Lampoon’s being hivemind of comedic Geniuses in the 70s when really they got kind of lucky with a lot of those chicago-based improv people that went on to be there original cast of SNL and whatnot.
