If you’ve ever glanced at a street style roundup, Lehigh Valley Ironpigs Bethlum T-shirt you’ve definitely encountered a familiar scene: Thora Valdimars and Jeanette Friis Madsen strolling side by side looking impossibly cool. Considering Copenhagen’s ability to set the trends, it’s no coincidence that both ladies are Danish. Aside from being the reigning queens of Scandi street style, Valdimars and Friis Madsen are the talented designers behind one of my favorite Danish brands: Rotate Birger Christensen. Since they’re entrenched in the Copenhagen fashion landscape both behind the scenes and in front of the camera, I thought they’d be the perfect people to tap for Scandi-approved spring style tips. I’ve attended Copenhagen Fashion Week three times now, and Rotate is reliably the show with the highest energy and best dance party vibes. The brand’s most recent show for F/W 20, of course, was no exception. But before we delve into fall, we’re excited to talk about what’s right in front of us: spring trends. Valdimars and Friis Madsen told us their three best style tips for this season, and you’d be wise to take notes. In keeping with the theme, I’ve also included pieces by Rotate as well as several other Scandinavian brands that show at Copenhagen Fashion Week—including Rains, Ganni, Stine Goya, Remain Birger Christensen, and Munthe.

We often see metallics take over the winter collections, Lehigh Valley Ironpigs Bethlum T-shirt but this spring, there’s a surprisingly fresh range of shimmering pieces that are here to transform metallics into a perennial favourite. Between lamé and satin, brocade and leather and sequins and jewels, never before has the trend been so thoroughly explored. An audible gasp could be heard when Tove’s liquid-gold dress came round the corner, whilst La Pointe’s fabulous silver sequin two-piece sent the paparazzi flashbulbs into a frenzy. “Whilst sequins and metallics never really go out of style, for spring/summer 2024 they’ve had a revamp, with liquid-gold dresses, shimmering chainmail-style creations and glistening silver tailoring adorning the catwalks alongside plenty of sequins and a hefty dose of lamé,” says Nash. “It might not be the most practical of trends—you’re unlikely to see me in a fabulous sparkling two-piece on my commute, I’m afraid—but what I love about it is that it really brings the joy back into dressing. Put on the pieces you normally reserve only for best and shine!”
