I want this Halloween You can’t scare me I drive a school bus shirt. My Father was in the Navy and we mostly traveled between Norfolk Virginia and Pensacola Florida, which were my Father’s duty stations. I remember my Mother packing the car up with blankets, the small bucket for using the bathroom and food. Yes, fried chicken, sandwiches and boiled eggs. My Grandmother would have a big pot of Red Snapper Chowder ready, which would soothe our stomachs from the long journey.

I don’t remember if my Father used the Green Book, but he did know that the only safe place we could stop was the Black own Hotel in Charleston SC. Thanks for having this exhibition at the Museum. I am a Volunteer at the Museum and I do see a lot of young people on the 2nd floor at this exhibition. I think at first they are excited about the car, but once they sit down and interact with the exhibit they are amazed. What a wonderful exhibit.
