Jennifer Lopez rang in her 50th birthday with a star-studded party at Star Island in Miami. Naturally, the glamorous entertainer pulled out all the fashion stops for the occasion; with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez by her side, she looked positively radiant in a golden, barely there chainmail Versace dress. The bodice of the gilded Greek goddess–style piece was fitted with buckled straps that criss-crossed on her chest to reveal sultry cutouts all across her toned upper body. Fashion nerds will recognize the number as a glittering version of the black Versace dress that appeared on model Candice Swanepoel at the brand’s Fall 2019 show.
J.Lo is by no means a stranger to the Italian house. During her 25-year-plus career, she has worn Versace to mark her biggest moments, starting with the famous semi-sheer, tropical-print Versace dress she sported to the Grammy Awards in 2000. (The look was so popular in Google’s search engine, it prompted the creation of what is now known as Google Images.) That dazzling red carpet appearance was the beginnings of a decades-long friendship between Lopez and Donatella Versace. “She was always sending me dresses for whatever I needed. It was a natural, organic relationship that wasn’t forced. It is a friendship that goes back many years,” said the singer in an interview with Vogue in August 2018. And while Versace has become a Lopez signature, there was another Jenny staple in the mix last night: her fist-size gold hoops by Lana Jewelry.
