CenturyLink service down 911 calls affected in part of Wyoming
CenturyLink customers in Utah and around the nation are reporting services are not working Thursday.
The company tweeted that the network disruption is affecting customer services shortly after 11 a.m. Mountain Time.
According to NewsWeek, Centurylink services have been down most of the day, and customers have been having trouble getting in contact with CenturyLink’s support department.
According to Wyoming’s Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, the outage is affecting the Sweetwater Combined Communications Center, which dispatches emergency services units and serves as the county’s 911 call center and emergency communications hub.
Residents of Sweetwater County are urged to call either (307) 875-1400 or (307) 362-6575 if calls to 911 aren’t going through.
Several government organizations in Utah use CenturyLink for internet services, telephone services or both. Salt Lake City issued an apology to residents who may have trouble reaching different departments due to the outage.
In response to a request for comment, CenturyLink told Fox 13 the following:
“Our network is experiencing a disruption affecting customer services. We understand some customers are currently unable to generate tickets through the CenturyLink help portal. We know how important these services are to our customers and we are working to restore services as quickly as possible.”
