Tech accessories are often very unchic. Those no-frills gadgets are most popularly worn by IT department pros or tech bros. But the times, they are changing, and high-fashion designers are recognizing that not only do we want the latest innovative products—we want to look good while carrying them around. As a result, Louis Vuitton is now making monogrammed earphones and Hermès is making Apple Watches with luxurious leather wristbands, among many other offerings. Someone who’s on board with this geek-chic memo? Model Emily Ratajkowski who, yesterday, was spotted in New York City making the case for techy earphones out on the streets.
Now, clunky earphones are not an easy thing to make look sophisticated—the more discreet Apple AirPods are much less overbearing. However, Ratajkowski dressed her hefty pair up with polished flair. Her earphones appear to be the Powerbeats Pro wireless earphones in ivory, which she coordinated with her white top. Then she added a double-breasted blazer, wearing it with skinny jeans and below-the-knee boots in black. Her elevated accessories helped, too, such as a structured cross-body bag—a laptop bag would simply send this look over the edge!—and a simple gold chain, by Missoma. Who says high-quality earphones can’t make a fashion statement? Just dress them up and rock on.
